05/01/25 - Blog Entry 1
I've never made a blog before in my life so I have no idea what to put in this. I guess this will be for completely unrelated thoughts that have nothing to do with updating the website. For now, here's a cool 3D Sonic 1 cartridge I made for this website that I ended up not using:
Anyone who saw my site early on will probably recognise it, I had it spinning around on the homepage just to fill space. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, I took pictures of my own cart and mapped them to a very simple model I made in Blockbench. I'm trying to learn Blender but I find it very daunting, so for now Blockbench acts as a sort of simplified version of Blender for me to get used to working in 3D. I've done the Blender Donut tutorial 3 times now and it just doesn't seem to make it any easier for some reason.
Despite that, I remain adamant that I'm going to learn how to properly do 3D modelling someday, I have a lot of fun ideas I really want to work on and make. My ultimate goal is to produce a cute low-poly 3D game with platforming and collecting stuff like Spyro.
Updates
05/01/25 - Another Update 
I've created a splash screen, mostly just so I can warn people that this site is not very mobile friendly yet. I'm working on it but I have no idea what I'm doing!
Another thing I've been working on is reducing the size of all the site assets, I am using a lot of animated gifs and big transparent PNGs and that's not sustainable long term so I've compressed everything down and converted all the gifs to webp.
I don't LIKE webp, but the size difference is insane! The Emerald Coast bg went from 5mb to 600kb, I can't say not to that.
At some point I would like to also change the way the art loads, specifically I need to make tiny thumbnails for each picture. Right now it just loads the full-size art image and then scales it down to fit the grid, this is also not sustainable long term but I only have weekends to dedicate to my site so it's stuck this way for now.
05/01/25 - Expanding the Site
Blog added to the front page.
I've also now added the Art section, I'm glad my grid idea worked! At some point I will add a seperate page for each image that's on there with some commentary and additional pictures that go with each one. The big one for this will be the Pokemon Infinite Fusion stuff I worked on, I think I'll keep this all in one page instead of seperate entries for each fusion.
04/01/25 - Trial and Error
Today I spent several hours creating navbar assets I didn't end up using because they didn't look right when I added them to the site. I got pretty frustrated about it, but then I played games with friends for a few hours, then came back to it with fresh eyes and made the ones that are on the site now. These suit the look much better in my opinion! I based them on the menu buttons from Sonic Adventure, much like the rest of the site so far :)
I have also added a texture to the boxes (like this one) which is inspired by the menu buttons in Sonic Adventure 2. I think it just makes it look a little more interesting and again has another connection to one of my favourite eras of gaming. Tomorrow I will finally start working on the more complex pages such as Art, I have an idea of how I want to present this but I don't know if it will work in practice. I'm still very new to all this website stuff!
Lastly, I noticed I have a few followers now, hello! I wanted to thank you all but I am not allowed to post messages in Neocities because my account is too new... So now I can say thank you and that I've checked out all your sites and they were all great! Everyone here is so talented and it really pushes me to keep working hard on making this site as good as possible.

02/01/25 - CSS Journey Continues
I've figured out the basics of Grid and Flex so now I have a bunch of boxes arranged neatly! I've also got a nicer background now, instead of the placeholder checkerboard. My next main goal is to add more pages so there's actually a reason to visit lmao

This website is still very much a work in progress!
So far I am still figuring out the basics, creating assets and generally trying to work out what I want the design to be. Please bear with me!
